Yes! At last! After visiting The Abbey Resort at Lake Geneva, in Fontana, Wisconsin, for many years, Master Chef Joshua North had been making gourmet vegetarian food dishes to accommodate our vegetarian egg-free diet, and more recently vegan and gluten-free diets. But on this Thanksgiving weekend visit 2018 I was delighted to see he actually had printed two new menus as standard offerings: one was a Vegetarian menu and the other a Gluten-free menu with vegan options at the 240 West Restaurant at the hotel.
Besides breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, he is always up for experimenting with new recipes. One of the challenges of menus at other restaurants is that foods that are labelled vegetarian often have eggs or are not gluten-free; or foods labelled gluten-free may have eggs or dairy. The happy combination of vegan and gluten-free is a challenge. Not one to shy away from challenges, upon arrival, Chef North sat with us and devised a special gluten-free vegan menu for our three-day stay. He even went to the local market to find items that would work as ingredients to make breakfast, lunch, and dinners according to the gluten-free vegan diet.
Chef North prepared the most gourmet delectable gluten-free vegan dishes I had ever tasted. They were savory, memorable, and presented as works of art! Even the desserts were delicious, and gorgeous to look at!
While 240 West restaurant caters to all kinds of menu items, check out his new gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan menu items. But if you have special dietary needs, Chef North, who is also the epitome of customer service with his kind, friendly, and caring nature will accommodate you with about a week or more advance notice.
He is a model chef which others who work at hotels should come and learn from!
